What are the advantages of choosing wood laminate flooring over that of a natural wood floor? Take a look at the overview below.

If you’re planning to replace carpet or other flooring in your home, wood laminate flooring may be the perfect option for you. There are many benefits to using laminate flooring instead of real hardwoods and this type of wood laminate can be an extremely beautiful addition to your home.

One of the largest advantages of choosing laminate over real wood is the cost savings that you’ll enjoy. Wood laminate flooring typically costs only a fraction of what hardwood costs, and this is especially true if you are considering exotic woods, such as mahogany.

The durability factor

Another major benefit of choosing laminate flooring is the durability factor. Laminate is an extremely durable material, which makes it the perfect option for families with children or pets. This type of flooring is extremely resistant to scratches, stains, and dents – all common with hardwood floors, especially in homes with lots of foot traffic and children. The durability of wood laminate flooring makes it a great choice for high traffic areas, such as living areas, kitchens, bedrooms, playrooms, and home offices.

Laminate flooring is also resistant to water as long as spills are cleaned up as soon as possible. It’s not the best option for bathrooms or saunas because of its tendency to peel up when placed in a damp room, but it’s great for kitchens because spills can easily be wiped up and when colored liquids are spilled, they aren’t as likely to leave a stain on laminate as they would be on read hardwoods.

Easy to install

Laminate is also reasonably easy to install and can typically be done as a weekend project. Even when homeowners choose to hire professionals to install their wood laminate flooring, the installation is typically quick and costs less than installing real wood floors. Today, laminate typically comes in long planks that can be easily snapped together and “floated” over an underlayment.

Environmentally sensitive

Choosing wood laminate flooring to update the look of your home can also be an environmentally sensitive option. Many manufacturers of wood laminate flooring are now using recycled products in the creation of their products.

Some also package the flooring in recycled packaging. Manufacturers are also increasingly choosing adhesives that don’t off-gas harmful VOC‘s. Also, unlike carpet, which holds in dust mites that can aggravate allergies and make healthy breathing difficult, laminate can easily be swept and the dust doesn’t stay trapped in the floor.

Low-maintenance floor

When you choose to use laminate flooring in your home, you’ll find that caring for this type of flooring is extremely simple and takes very little time at all. For the most part, laminate should be swept on a regular basis.

Many people choose to use dry dust mops to keep their floor clean on a daily basis. Most manufacturers don’t suggest using wax and other cleaners on their flooring – keeping it clean is really as simple as sweeping regularly and using a damp mop for deeper cleaning. Damp mopping laminate with just water will typically make it look just like new.

Many advantages

As you can see, there are many advantages to choosing wood laminate flooring. If you’re looking for a fast and easy way to update the flooring in your home, be sure to give laminate a try. You’ll enjoy the look and durability that you’ll get from this flooring option and you’ll love the money that you’ll save!
