Hello All,
Welcome to my initial blog post. As you can read in my profile, I am one of two Co-Founders of BuildDirect. The other Co-Founder, Jeff Booth (see Jeff’s blog) and I have been friends for over two decades now (ouch, getting a bit old!) and growing BuildDirect into the company it is today has been a fabulous experience.
It has been a long and difficult road, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. It is my greatest joy in my professional career and other than my family & friends, it is my true love. Okay, after family & friends, hockey may be my second true love and beer may be my third, but BuildDirect is no worse than fourth!
If you spend any time with me the greatest compliment you can give me is to say that you can feel how passionate I am about BuildDirect. I was born in Canada and my family is from Scotland, so I have often been described as having a fiery personality. With this blog I hope to share with you video, pictures, and written commentary on my experiences around the world as it pertains to procurement of building materials, business travel, and cultural experiences. All the while, I’ll be attempting to keep the humor high and the BS low.
BuildDirect has done business in over one hundred countries. As the co-majority owner, co-founder and head of all procurement activities, I tend to be the international face of the company. In my travels I often see things that 99% of the population would not have the opportunity to be exposed to. I am so lucky to be on this journey and hopefully I can share a little of that with you.
