Next in our series of hardwood floor species is a very popular choice in a durable hardwood surface: hard maple. Here’s Rob Banks to explain some of the major assets that hard maple hardwood floors bring, along with some of the characteristics that make it distinguishable from other choices in wood floors:

Hard Maple is a very hard for a domestic species, with a golden-white color range. It’s hard when compared to a northern red oak, but is slightly less stable. This means that maple is more apt to expand and contract according to the environment in which it’s been installed.

So the trade off is hardness for stability, at least when compared to red oaks. But, the way hard maple looks isn’t in question for a space which requires a light, creamy tone. In that, it has no rival.
